Telkom Technology High School (abbreviated STT Telkom) was established by the Foundation of Education and Training Technology and Telecommunications Management, or abbreviated Telkom Education Foundation (YPT) on September 28, 1990. STT Telkom founding purpose is to meet the needs of human resources at pertelekomunikasian sector in Indonesia.
Campus STT Telkom in South Bandung area about 12 km from downtown Bandung (Gedung Sate) with the location, easily accessible by public transportation. STT Telkom campus location was once the historic district of Bandung Sea of Fire event in which the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Indonesia was first broadcast to the entire archipelago and the world. Campus locations are located quite far from the crowds, so the atmosphere becomes more conducive to learning.
STT Telkom own campus was originally located on the road Holy No. 51, but since 1993 was moved to Jalan Telecommunications (current location) on campus to remember the sacred road less support teaching and learning process that is conducive in terms of campus locations, wide / big campus, and campus environment. With these considerations, the campus stands on 48 hectares of land area in South Jakarta area [see the location of the campus], but only used 19 ha.
The purpose of this school founded to meet the demand for experts in the telecommunications industry is growing very rapidly, then the PT Telkom is very interested in the institutions so that PT Telkom offer full scholarships and bonding force service to students in 1991 and 1992. The existence of climate change in the telecommunications industry (PT Telkom no longer monopolize), scholarships and bonds, and dismissed the service currently STT Telkom became an independent college. The average growth of the telecommunications business sector in Indonesia increased by 20% each year. This growth businesses include cellular-based communications services, fixed line, Internet, and broadband access. With the amount of growth, the estimated energy needs of Infocom in 2010 in Indonesia is as much as 320,000 people. Currently ¬ ¬ providers infokom graduates from public universities and private colleges, including STT Telkom. But the number of graduates from universities that have courses related to areas such infokom, only around 20,000 people per year. Looking at these conditions and taking into account opportunities, internal capabilities and confidence of the Government and industrial community, STT Telkom is committed improving infokom role in society, through the transformation of institutions that have the ability and better benefits than its predecessor. Therefore, starting on December 1, 2007, through the Director General of Higher Education Decision, STT Telkom changed shape into TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE or abbreviated IT TELKOM Telkom. These changes are expected to form the IT Telkom became an international-class universities that excel in the field of Infocom and become agents of change in human form competitive intelligence and Indonesia. These changes also have consequences for the IT Telkom to continue to improve the quality of education, facilities and infrastructure and utilization of all potential.
